Tuck into a seasonally inspired menu at a Leeds restaurant or cosy up with a Christmas themed cocktail in one of the city’s bars; from street food style to Michelin Starred there’s something for all tastes.

If you’re still in need of some last minute gifts and stocking fillers, don’t panic, many of the shops in Leeds stay open until 8pm during the festive season.

Opera North - Joyous Christmas - Credit Amy Charles

The Orchestra of Opera North will be dispensing Christmas cheer with The Snowman and Other Tales at Leeds Town Hall.

The atmospheric Howard Assembly Room will be decorated for festive performances including Corsican choir A Filetta and two Winter Wonderland concerts.

The Orchestra’s ever-popular Viennese Whirl rings in the New Year at Leeds Town Hall, and the winter wonder continues with Opera North’s new mainstage season of deliciously dark fairy tales, opening with The Snow Maiden on 21 January.

Ice Cube

The Ice Cube is back and now you can enjoy it whatever the weather!

Yorkshire’s coolest wintertime attraction returns to Millennium Square, Leeds in January and now the rink has a cover! From Friday 27 January to Sunday 19 February, our magical outdoor skating experience will offer icy fun and adventure for all the family.

The new covered real ice rink will have family friendly skate sessions each morning, with penguin stabilisers for the little ones. This year’s winter-themed attractions include old favourites; the Capital FM Snowslide, the North Pole Starflyer and Glacier Run Simulator plus the new Ice Jet along with other rides for children of all ages.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, the Dolomites Café will be serving hot drinks and tasty snacks; and providing a cosy retreat where spectators can view the on-ice action.
