Our definition of Spam - what is electronic spam

It is email that you don’t want and didn’t ask for often irrelevant or unsolicited messages sent over the Internet, typically to large numbers of users, for the purposes of advertising, phishing, spreading malware, etc. This can include excessive emails sent after a purchase or enquiry that are not waranted nor asked for.

We deem as Spam any email we did not ask for that is not personalised or tailored to our exact needs or even sent by an individual completing or answering a query or question, but is in fact mass or bulk message that have nothing to do with the individual receiver.

When contacting a company or purchasing a product
Contacting / making a purchase does not give that company / individual the automatic right to send regular unwanted emails on a daily / weekly or monthly basis.

It is all about privacy. It is not all about opt in

Buying a product or enquiring / joining a website does not give an automatic right to send endless bulk messages on a regular basis. See Marketing | ICO. Soft Opt in is simply a license to spam. Also it is not acceptable to hide terms like "we will sent you emails weekly" if you purchase a product from XYand Z. See: Action

Sign off or Unsubscribe, really!

It is the responsibility of the holder of an email list to not bombared its spam recipients to endless emails, whilst hiding behind 'the get out clause' that they can unsubscribe. The email recipient cannot physically contact and unsubscribe to spam due to:

  1. the sheer volume of spam
  2. the fact that unsubscribing can be proof that an email address is LIVE and in use and hence the act of unstructured is actually a red rag to increase the amount of spam.
