Your Weekly Update from Nonprofit Marketing Guide
Filling in for Kivi this week...let's talk
If you emailed Kivi this week, you should have received her out of office reply extolling the virtues of sipping slushy drinks and taking a real vacation. (She's talked before about the idiocy of not taking your vacation days.)
I thought I would use this time to introduce myself and ask what I can do for you.
Hi, ! I'm Kristina.
As the community engagement manager here, part of my job is knowing what you need to become a better nonprofit communicator and then figuring out how to provide that for you (or at least point you in the right direction).
I can only really do that if I hear from you, though. So be honest with me and let me know what's really going down at your office.
Here are a few ways you can be heard:
  • Take this quick survey which asks what really works with your nonprofit communications so we can better understand the strategies that have been successful in the real world.
  • Email me (Or if you're bored or stressed at work and don't want to talk shop, I am also available to talk about Hamilton the musical, "geeky" shows like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead or Doctor Who, and college football among other things.)
I look forward to hearing from you!
Enjoy this week's newsletter,
Kristina Leroux
5 Things to Know This Week
1. Why they really share on social media.
People want to shore up their public persona, according to John Haydon in The Most Obvious Reason People Use Social Media That Most Brands DON’T Get.
2. Myths and facts about journalism.
3. Join us for the Thought Leadership Marketing Accelerator.

Our next Nonprofit Marketing Accelerator is on Marketing Your Expertise: Becoming a Thought Leader and Media Darling. This 6-week intensive course begins August 15th, but seats are limited due to the personal attention each group will receive. Learn more and claim your spot.

4. A better way to measure real media impact.
M+R has published a new report on media benchmarks – The 2016 Mediamarks Study.
5. Fundraisers + Marketers.
We've talked a lot about how these two groups need to come together for the most effective communications. Andrew Littlefield addresses the issue as well in The Fundraising and Marketing Rift, and How To Fix It.
