Of men and fishes

Hey Guys—

You have, I presume, heard the trite phrase, “give a man a fish,

feed him for a day, teach him to fish, feed him for life.”  It’s
one of those things that sounds really, really good, but is more
political theory than social reality.

Why?  Because more men don’t want to learn to fish, they just want

to be given the fish.  That’s why so few people go into business,
and fewer succeed.  They just want the money, they don’t want to
have to make the money.

That’s why well meaning people are forever disappointed when they

say “education is the key!”  You can educate all you want, but if
people are not motivated, they will pay no attention, and they
certainly will not take action.

I see it in direct marketing all the time.  A new, wide eyed, well

meaning marketer discovers self development, thinks he or she is
going to change the world and then is profoundly disappointed when
the people who buy from them take no action whatsoever.  Of course
a reading of history would have told them this very thing would
happen, but it is so much more fun to be swept away by the idea
instead of reading about past implementation of the idea.

So, most men settle for the fish, never learning how to go and

catch them. But there is one area of life where the fish cannot be
given to you, and that is in our area of attraction.

If you wish to attract women, you must learn how.  You cannot have

them given to you, you cannot buy them (and any man who thinks he
can soon has no money and no women), you cannot steal them at
gunpoint (or knifepoint in gun free zones), you can only attract
them.  And that requires both learning and implementation.

Implementation really is the part most people don’t like.

Many people like the illusion of learning—sitting in a classroom,
hearing high minded ideas, and discussing how to change the
world in coffee shops while scrounging for change to pay for the
coffee. Discussing ideas IS a lot of fun.

Implementing them is usually not.  When you implement, you discover

that most of your ideas that sounded so good in class are worthless
when implemented in reality, and that you must discard them and
test new ones quickly.  Such is life in direct marketing where
you wake up feeling like a genius, only to don your dunce cap yet
again by noon.

Implementation of what you learn and study about attraction IS

hard.  You will get rejected, turned down, flaked on, and just
when you think you have a fish on the hook, it finds a way to get
off (they are very good at that). Implementation of attraction IS
a grind, a day in and day out thing with a lot of failures and no
fish.  BUT, eventually, since women DO like men quite a bit, you
will catch a fish.  Over time you will get better at fishing and
catch more, and you will actually like it.  But it will always be
a grind, and you have to learn to love the grind.

Eventually you will take satisfaction in the ability to grind,

something the coffee shop boys will never do. And when you get
there, you’ll also have the ability to catch fish, ensuring you
won’t be alone at night unless you choose to.  So in this one area
of life, embrace learning to fish…ain’t none of them coming to
you if you don’t.
