Federal contractors must comply with new rules on sex bias

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs' (OFCCP's) revised rules on sex discrimination took effect on Aug. 15. The rules, which have not been substantively updated since 1970, require covered employers to take certain steps to make sure that sex discrimination does not occur in the workplace. Per OFCCP, the rules are designed to combat many issues faced by employees on account of sex, including pay discrimination, sexual harassment, lack of pregnancy and childbirth accommodations and stereotype-based discrimination.
