This month's FREE Third Thursday (9/21) brings you...
  • music by Indian-born drummer Ravish Momin
  • Indian ragas performed on traditional instruments by Arnab Chakrabarty (sarod) & Pandit Sanju Sahai (tabla)
  • engaging & thought-provoking museum tours
  • the perfect opportunity to view Epic Tales from Ancient India: Paintings from The San Diego Museum of Art and Giant before they close on October 1
As on every Third Thursday, our galleries are open until 9 p.m.
And in our Blanton Café, you can enjoy a pizza & wine deal for just $5.

Please note: a UT construction project has affected some pathways to our buildings. The drop-off area and disabled parking spaces on Jester Circle will be inaccessible. Visitors will still be able to access the museum via the sidewalk on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, and disabled parking is still available in the Brazos Garage. If you have questions, are disabled, or need extra assistance, our Visitor Services staff can help: 512.471.5482.

If you've never attended one of our acclaimed SoundSpace music events, this Sunday's (9/24) "A Portrait of Alice Coltrane" is a wonderful introduction. From 2 - 4 pm, our entire museum "will turn into a beautiful and varied sound installation," as our Manager of Public Programs, Adam Bennett, describes it.

A tribute to the innovative and visionary Alice Coltrane, Sunday's program will feature musicians performing works created and inspired by the artist who was a jazz pianist, organist, harpist, singer, composer, swamini, and the wife of John Coltrane. Much of her later music draws on classical Indian influences, so our Epic Tales from Ancient India exhibition provides a fitting background.

Check out the line-up of Sunday's performers. SoundSpace is included with museum admission.

We promised you more, and here it is:

Kick off your weekend with some sarod and tabla -  stop by Friday (9/22) for a Midday Music interlude featuring maestros of these Indian instruments.

Want even more music? On Tuesday (9/26), PrismATX Ensemble treats visitors to another Midday Music concert, also at noon.

That movie we mentioned? It's The Mahabharata, and we're showing it in our auditorium next Thursday (9/28).

We hope you'll come enjoy one or all of these events!
Free admission every Thursday is made possible by The Moody Foundation.
Blanton Members always receive free general admission to the museum and a 10% discount in the Shop and Café.
